Healthy Lifestyles

Cavendish Community Primary School is a healthy school and we promote healthy lifestyles. In KS2, your child can bring a healthy snack to eat during morning break time which should only be fresh fruit or vegetables. Your child should also have a drinking bottle in school each day and this must only be filled with water.

Article 29 - Children’s education should help them use and develop their talents and abilities. It should also help them to learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.

Learning Behaviour and Attitudes

At Cavendish Community Primary School, we promote the ‘Cavendish golden values’ to support our learning behaviours and attitudes. These are respect, positivity, equality, courage, kindness and responsibility. Our values include the following:

  • We are gentle and do not hurt anyone.
  • We are honest and we do not cover up the truth.
  • We look after property and we do not waste or damage things.
  • We work hard and we do not waste our or other people’s time.
  • We are kind and helpful and we don’t hurt people’s feelings.
  • We listen to each other and we do not interrupt

Curriculum Overview and Trips

We have a brilliant year ahead and we can’t wait to get started. You can find below our topic focuses for this year. As the year progresses, we will look to add educational visits and we will communicate these with you closer to the time.

Article 3 - All adults should do what is best for children. When adults make decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children.

Homework

Each week, your child will receive 2 pieces of homework, which include: Maths and times table practice. We also ask that your child reads every day at home both with an adult and independently. Your child has a reading diary which should be used to record the texts that they read and to identify any words they struggled with. Homework will be set on a Friday each week and it should be completed/handed in by the following Thursday.
